SMEs have been the cornerstone of Taiwan’s economic development since the 1970s. Despite the impact of the global political and economic situation in recent years, Taiwan’s SMEs still exhibit the unique characteristics of flexibility, vigor and resilience, which have enabled them to stand firm in the international market. In addition, they have contributed significantly to the country's export expansion and employment opportunities.
The course covered a range of topics, including overview of SME development, management and consulting services for SMEs, and innovation in SMEs. In line with the concept of green economy, the workshop introduced circular economy practices in small and medium enterprises, which can enhance the use of renewable energy and increase employment opportunities.
In order to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of SME development in Taiwan, experts in this field from industry, government and academia were invited as guest lecturers. The workshop also shared practical tools and innovative approaches in different areas, with the aim of exploring new business opportunities. Other activities included visits to enterprises such as SEG Factory, Singtex, Super Dragon Technology Co., and Gogoro Taiwan Limited, which enabled participants to gain a practical understanding of SME development and implementation in Taiwan.
