The Signing of Agreement on Agricultural Technical Cooperation between the TaiwanICDF and Thailand Royal Project Foundation

The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) and Thailand Royal Project Foundation have signed the Agreement on Phase III of Agricultural Technical Cooperation on June14, 2016. The accomplishments of the agricultural technical cooperation have been greatly recognized by both sides, and the TaiwanICDF and Thailand Royal Project Foundation wish to continue and strengthen this cooperation. The Agreement on Agricultural Technical Cooperation was signed by H.S.H. PRINCE BHISATEJ RAJANI from the Royal Project Foundation, Kingdom of Thailand and Secretary General Amb. Weber V. B. Shih from the TaiwanICDF.

In accordance with the Agreement on Agricultural Technical Cooperation between the TaiwanICDF and Royal Project Foundation, Kingdom of Thailand, the TaiwanICDF will assist Thailand in initiating the “Integrated Pest Management in Vegetable Production and Fruit Flies Control Project” and the “Gloriosa, Sweet Potato Virus-free Seedling and Grape Root Stock Production Project.”

To echo the goal of Northern Highland Royal Project to improve the livelihoods of hill tribesmen, the TaiwanICDF and Thailand Royal Project Foundation have built cooperative relationships since 2011 and utilized Taiwan’s agricultural expertise and experiences in raising the living standards of hill tribesmen in Northern Highland, Thailand. Over the past four years, the Thailand Royal Project Foundation has dispatched 167 personnel to Taiwan for professional training while the TaiwanICDF has dispatched nine experts to Thailand to assist in agricultural technical training. The technical interchange between both sides has created great achievements.

Agricultural technical cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand dates back to 1969. In order to help elevate Thailand’s horticultural cultivation techniques, Taiwan has assisted in variety trials, tissue culture and pest control, and improved the quality and production of mushrooms, persimmons, and citrus and passion fruits, successfully improving the living standards of Thai farmers.
