TaiwanICDF Helps Paraguay’s Textile Startups Enter Global Markets

The Taiwan Technical Mission in Paraguay on March 19, 2025 joined officials from Paraguay’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) on a technical visit to a Paraguayan textile company. The visit formed part of an initiative to strengthen local entrepreneurs’ proficiency in 3D textile technology and facilitate their entry into global markets.

The visit, held at Blue Design América (BDA), brought together 25 participants, including representatives from the MIC’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) division, as well as representatives of businesses receiving technical support through the initiative. Through live demonstrations and on-site visits, participants gained hands-on experience with 3D apparel design software VStitcher, with the aim of helping them optimize design and production workflows, improve efficiency, enhance sustainability, and boost industrial competitiveness. The BDA team shared insights into how integrating technology—for processes from virtual prototyping to mass production—has improved cost management and market responsiveness. Attendees also toured BDA’s design, marketing, and production facilities, witnessing firsthand how the adoption of Taiwanese 3D design technology has enabled BDA to secure mass production orders from the U.S. market, demonstrating a complete digital design and manufacturing process essential for international market expansion.

Taiwan Technical Mission in Paraguay project manager Jovi Su spoke about how Taiwan’s 3D textile technology encompasses digital mannequin database development, material physics and texture analysis, 3D pattern design, and high-fidelity AI-driven motion simulation. Compared to traditional manual pattern-making and sampling, this technology significantly shortens development timelines while enabling real-time design modifications and remote collaboration with international brands.

The TaiwanICDF’s Project to Strengthen Capacity to Support Development of MSMEs (Phase II) aligns with Paraguay’s national digital transformation strategy, and the TTM is working alongside the MIC to drive the digitalization of the local textile industry. The initiative has already helped local businesses secure mass production orders from the U.S. market through Taiwan’s 3D digital design expertise, demonstrating Taiwan’s strengths in technology and industry development while deepening bilateral cooperation. Paraguay’s strategic location within the South American trade bloc Mercosur, coupled with its abundant young talent and digital creativity, underscores its potential for industry growth.

One entrepreneur from Ciudad del Este shared his experience with Taiwanese 3D textile technology, saying that it has provided local designers access to an international-standard design platform. The entrepreneur also witnessed how BDA has successfully transitioned from OEM to ODM production with Taiwan’s technical assistance.

TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Pei-Fen Hsieh said that the event exemplified Taiwan’s unwavering support for Paraguay’s MSMEs and startups. By partnering with leading local firms like BDA, Taiwan is helping to drive industry digital transformation and new business model development, injecting fresh momentum into Paraguay’s fashion industry, and fostering a competitive, sustainable industrial ecosystem. Hsieh further stressed that the TaiwanICDF will continue to strengthen bilateral collaboration, working together to build an internationally competitive Paraguayan fashion sector while creating opportunities for industrial upgrading and reinforcing democratic supply chain partnerships.
