TaiwanICDF’s Virtual Classroom Helps Partner Countries Enhance Capabilities to Cultivate Skilled Workforce
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on education worldwide, and enhancing global resilience in the post-pandemic era was a key issue in this year's High-level Political Forum, the main United Nations platform on sustainable development.
Due to the pandemic, the TaiwanICDF has postponed all vocational training this year. By utilizing remote education technology, we were able to quickly adapt by establishing the YouTube channel "TaiwanICDF School," which provides online courses to ensure a continuation of education and training as well as give participants a better understanding of the TaiwanICDF.
"TaiwanICDF School" is a platform for participants to learn independently and includes various online courses such as technical training and professional Mandarin. Participants can attend the virtual classroom at any place and time without limitations. After completion of a course, there are quizzes to check the effectiveness of learning.
The TaiwanICDF plans to host more livestreamed events and use virtual reality in order to increase interactive experiences, in addition to sharing similar channels to provide information about other education promotion activities and increase access to digital education.
We hope to enhance the effectiveness of remote teaching through four main approaches: maintaining motivation, creating interactive experiences, setting learning goals and increasing interactivity.
The TaiwanICDF uses flexible and practical practices to respond to concerns of the international community. With the pandemic severely impacting education, the online learning channel overcomes physical barriers and serves as a platform for people to continue learning and improving professional capabilities. In the future, the TaiwanICDF will continue to strengthen human resource capacity building in partner countries.
