TaiwanICDF Workshop on Disaster Resistant Sustainable Community Promotes Global Environmental Awareness

The Workshop on Disaster Resistant Sustainable Community, held by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) from June 15 to 28, was attended by 25 participants from 20 countries from the Latin American, Caribbean and Asia Pacific regions.

The workshop aims to share Taiwan’s successful disaster prevention methodology and experiences in building resilient communities with its partner countries. Main topics include international trends of disaster resistant communities and strategies of Taiwan, sustainable disaster prevention practices, and technical management and application of sustainable disaster prevention.

For this workshop, the TaiwanICDF invited domestic expert practitioners from industry, government and academia to share their knowledge and work in disaster risk reduction and management. Other activities included visits to autonomous communities that have implemented disaster prevention engineering, land subsidence and flood control measures, so as to assist participants to learn about Taiwan’s experience of promoting disaster resilient communities and integrating community environmental conditions into the process.
