TaiwanICDF and Thailand Royal Project Foundation to Co-host Symposium
To enhance the exchange of agricultural technical experts between Taiwan and Thailand, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) and Thailand Royal Project Foundation will co-host the 2016 TaiwanICDF & Royal Project Foundation Symposium: Technical Cooperation on Citrus, Passion Fruit, Mushroom and Persimmon on October 13. Agricultural experts will share the outcomes of technical cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand at the event.
Agricultural technical cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand can be traced back to 1969. In response to the Thai royal family’s wish to care for the underprivileged farmers of Northern Thailand, the TaiwanICDF began collaborating with Thailand Royal Project Foundation. Through bilateral agricultural technical cooperation, Taiwan has assisted Thailand in agricultural technology and experience to improve the livelihood of Thai people.
Over the course of bilateral technical cooperation, Thailand Royal Project Foundation has sent personnel to Taiwan for agricultural training while the TaiwanICDF has dispatched experts to Thailand to provide guidance on agricultural technology, including in areas of variety trials, tissue culture and pest management. This reciprocal exchange has contributed to the increase of quality and quantity of mushroom, astringent persimmon, citrus and passion fruit, and improved the livelihood of Thai farmers.
