Project Name:HIPCA-Sub Project 3: Kosovo Rec Kos Project
Project status:Projects in Operation
Cooperating Country:Kosovo
Project Description:
This project is jointly financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the EU-supported Enterprise Expansion Fund II (ENEF II) and the TaiwanICDF through the High-Impact Partnership on Climate Action (HIPCA). The financing will support Rec Kos, a recycling company based in Kosovo, in its construction of a new recycling facility and the expansion of its capacity to process metal and electronic waste. In addition to its current recycling lines for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, e-waste, plastics, and waste oil, the company will introduce new processing lines to handle tires, batteries, and copper/aluminum cables. The project is expected to significantly increase Rec Kos’s overall recycling capacity.
Project Objectives:
The project aims to enhance Rec Kos’s recycling and reprocessing capabilities while encouraging the company to adopt more environmentally and socially responsible practices through its commitments to climate change mitigation, gender equality, and economic inclusion. It is expected to strengthen domestic investment in recycling and reuse in Kosovo and support the country’s national goals for household and municipal waste management.
