Project Description:
The project aims to build upon the achievements of the "2025 Rice Production Enhancement Project in South, Haiti", to stabilize national rice production of Haiti and to improve food security as a priority. Project implementation will involve: 1. the production of 350 metric tons of various grades of M8 rice seed; 2. the production of 1,050 metric tons of various grades of paddy rice; 3. maintaining agricultural irrigation and drainage systems; 4. assisting 14 Joint Service Centers with their operations.

Project Objectives:
- Production of 350 metric tons of various grades of M8 rice seed;
- Production of 1,050 metric tons of paddy rice;
- Maintenance of agricultural irrigation and drainage systems;
- Support for the operation of 14 small-scale rice Joint Service Centers for farmers' organizations;
- Training of 240 farmers and organization of two field demonstration sessions;
- Technical assistance for 14 agricultural machinery service teams (contract plowing teams);
- Data development and application of an agricultural product traceability system.
Executing Agency:
Technical Mission of The Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Republic of Haiti / Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development of Haiti/ Agriculture Bureau of South province.
Current Progress:
As of March 2026, the following has been completed:
- Completed the planting of various classes of rice seeds over a total area of 51.02 hectares.
- Organized one training workshop for farmers on land preparation and seedling nursery techniques prior to rice transplanting, training a total of 60 farmers.
- Completed the desilting and clearing of 1,000 meters of irrigation canals in the Torbeck region, improving the irrigation and drainage conditions of the fields.
