Project Description:
The project is to continue the achievements of the "National Rice Seed Production Enhancement Project in Artibonite Valley, Haiti", with the intention to assist the food production, continue to produce seeds in Artibonite and stabilize the national rice production to ensure food security. Project implementation will include: 1. Stabilize the production of quality seed and to guarantee yield and the number of beneficiary farmers; 2. Execute rice seed regeneration operations in rice growing areas; 3. Strengthen the Operational Functions of Farmers' Organizations; 4. Assist the Cooperative partner in the rectification and repair of the water conservancy system in the rice growing areas; 5. Strengthen Cooperative partners' agricultural mechanization and work efficiency; 6. Assist in training to improve farmers' knowledge.

Project Objectives:
1. Guide in the production of 1,750 tons of variety TCS10 rice and 875 tons of rice grain.
2. Guide the implementation of the seed inspection and quality certification system in the Artibonite Valley, train 12 field inspectors and 6 laboratory technicians.
3. Assist farmers' organizations in organizing and operating the rice harvesting center and 2 agricultural machinery repair stations.
4. Improve the planting technology, material technical support and seed production process of farmers. Training 240 farmers and organizing 2 field cultivation observation sessions.
5. Build and register the field geographic information map and cultivation information for a total of 250 hectares to facilitate the accessibility of real-time land data and promote the diversified application of smart agricultural information.

Current Progress:
To the end of December 2024, the following activities have been completed:
1. Completed harvest on 0.25 hectares and produced 0.85 tonnes of breeder seed for the first cropping season of 2024.
2. Completed harvest on 0.25 hectares and produced 1.15 tonnes of breeder seed for the second cropping season of 2024.
3. Completed harvest on 6 hectares and produced 21.6 tonnes of foundation seed for the first cropping season of 2024.
4. Completed harvest on 6 hectares and produced 22.2 tonnes of foundation seed for the second cropping season of 2024.
5. Completed harvest on 239.06 hectares and produced 786.5 tonnes of certified seed for the first cropping season of 2024.
6. Completed harvest on 210.8 hectares and produced 737.8 tonnes of certified seed for the second cropping season of 2024.
7. Completed harvest on 125 hectares and produced 350 tonnes of paddy rice for the first cropping season of 2024.
8. Completed harvest on 121 hectares and produced 365 tonnes of paddy rice for the first cropping season of 2024.
9. Completed trial and purification on 0.12 hectares for purifying four varieties (Sheila, CAP, MGG, and M8) during the first season of 2024.
10. Conducted land preparation, transplanting, and field management operations on 0.12 hectares for purifying four varieties (Sheila, CAP, MGG, and M8) during the second season of 2024.
11. Advised 5 multiservice centers on rice seed processing and storage operations.
12. Registered cultivation information for 250 hectares in the agricultural production system.
13. Performed maintenance for 13 power tillers, winnowing machines,small generators, forklifts, as well as other harvesting and land preparation equipment.
14. Trained 10 operators and 6 maintenance technicians with a total of 16 participants.
15. Offered operational guidance for 2 agricultural machinery repair stations.

Projected Benefits:
Stabilize the rice seed production chain in the Artibonite Valley. At the end of the project, achieve an annual yield of quality seed of 1,750 tons and 875 tons of rice grain.
