Project Name:Enhancing the efficiency of production-distribution supply chain in fruit and vegetable sector in St. Lucia (The second phase)

Project Description:
TaiwanICDF has cooperated with the government of Saint Lucia to implement the project of “Enhancing the efficiency of production-distribution supply chain in fruit and vegetable sector” since 2018. The agricultural information system and production and marketing adjustment mechanism have been established to effectively assist in the development of the country’s agriculture. The government of the country hopes that the use of this agricultural technology will strengthen the country’s agricultural production and improve the income of farmers, as well as build the resilience of the agricultural sector to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Project Objectives:
In order to achieve sustainable agriculture goals, the main contents of this plan include:
1. Promote diversified production.
2. Establish a high-efficiency production model.
3. Strengthen the local agricultural product sales/marketing mechanism and develop the value-added agricultural products.
Executing Agency:
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Food Security and Taiwan Technical Mission in St. Lucia.
Current Progress:
As of the end of June, 2025, the following has been completed:
- Organized four training courses on the operation of small farm machinery, attended by 100 trainees.
- Held four material recycling sales events.
- Established one compost processing shed and organized four training courses on composting.
- Held eight agricultural workshops on topics including safe pesticide use, plant growth regulator application, and the cultivation of seedless watermelons, dragon fruit, vining cowpea, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, and ginger.
- Delivered eight talks on food and agriculture education, attended by more than 235 students and teachers.
- Organized five farmers' markets.
- Organized six training courses on agricultural processing and 10 on food safety.
