Project Description:
This project is in line with the national development strategy of RMI (Republic of Marshall Islands) and is connected with the results of the previous phase of the project to promote fruit and vegetable production and consumption, to further strengthen the correct concept and eating habits of the Marshallese people on balanced nutrition, thereby gradually reducing the risk of chronic diseases. The main contents of this project include: (1) Improve the diversity and efficiency of fruit and vegetable production methods, and set up satellite farms on the outer islands to expand the production of fruit and vegetables; (2) Improve the willingness of the Marshall Islands people to eat fruits and vegetables; (3) Increase cooperation The supply of fruits and vegetables in the group meals on campus to increase the nutritional intake of school children; (4) Integrate cross-departmental/organizational resources to establish a national health management mechanism.

Project Objectives:
At the end of the project, average vegetable content per gruop meal of cooperative shchool in Majuro and outer island up to 40 grams and dietary diversity score reach to 4.

Current Progress:
To the end of the project, the following activities have been completed:
1. Made 1,073 cubic meters of compost and harvested 29,557.68 kilograms of fruit and vegetables in Laura Farm(Majuro); provided group meals for Marshall Islands High School(MIHS) and Marshall Middle School once a week, increasing the supply frequency to once a week and benefing 2,077 students.
2. Held 144 nutrition promotion activities and assisted 7 school gardens in Majuro in order to increase awareness of balanced diets in students.
3.Built a farm in kwajalein in May 2022 and started producing vegetable for Kwajalein High School's school meals. To date, the farm produced 11,506.66 kilograms of vegetables for 298 students in total.
4. Established 4 hydroponic demonstration area, train 2 hydroponic cultivator, and held hydroponic workshop 13 times with training 227 people.
