Project Description：

The project aims to build upon the achievements of the "2024 Rice Production Enhancement Project in North/North-East, Haiti", to stabilize national rice production of Haiti and to improve food security as a priority. Project implementation will involve: 1. production of 300 metric tons of Xaragua rice seed; 2. and, the production of 900 metric tons of paddy rice.

Project Objectives：

1. Production of 300 metric tons of Xaragua rice seed; 

2. Production of 900 metric tons of paddy rice; 

3. Training of 12 field inspectors and six laboratory  personnel; 

4. Operational support for 14 Joint Service Centers;

5. Training of 240 farmers and organization of two field demonstration sessions; 

6. Data development and application of an agricultural product traceability system.

Executing Agency：

Technical Mission of The Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Republic of Haiti / Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development of Haiti/ Agriculture Bureau of North/North-East provinces.

Current Progress：

As of the end of October 2025, the following has been completed:

1. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, rogue removal, field inspection, and harvest for 0.02 hectares of breeder seed (first season crop).
2. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, pest and disease control, rogue removal, field inspection, and harvest for 2 hectares of foundation seed (first season crop).
3. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, pest and disease control, rogue removal, field inspection, and harvest for 50 hectares of contract farming households producing registered seed (first season crop).
4. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, topdressing, panicle fertilization, pest and disease control, rogue removal, and harvest for 150 hectares of commercial rice production (first season crop).
5. Production of 157.183 metric tons of rice seed for the first season crop, including 0.063 metric tons of breeder seed, 6.12 metric tons of foundation seed, and 151 metric tons of registered seed; technical assistance provided for the production of 453.75 metric tons of paddy rice.
6. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and fertilizer application for 0.02 hectares of breeder seed (second season crop).
7. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and fertilizer application for 2 hectares of foundation seed (second season crop).
8. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and fertilizer application for 52 hectares of contract farming households producing registered seed (second season crop).
9. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and fertilizer application for 150 hectares of commercial rice production (second season crop)
10. Provision of technical guidance on land preparation, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and pest and disease control to 14 farmer organizations engaged in rice production.
11. Compilation of training material, and organization of seven farmer training sessions, with a total of 240 farmers trained.
12. One field demonstration session on rice production techniques, with 58 participants.
13. Field inspection operations for a total of 52.02 hectares of seed production fields; training provided for six field inspectors and twelve laboratory inspectors.
14. Registration of farmland in the production traceability system for 150 hectares of rice fields for the first season crop.
