Project Description：

The project aims to build upon the achievements of the "2024 Rice Production Enhancement Project in South, Haiti", to stabilize national rice production of Haiti and to improve food security as a priority. Project implementation will involve: 1. the production of 350 metric tons of various grades of M8 rice seed; 2. the production of 1,050 metric tons of various grades of paddy rice; 3. maintaining agricultural irrigation and drainage systems; 4. and, assisting 14 Joint Service Centers with their operations.

Project Objectives：

1. Production of 350 metric tons of various grades of M8 rice seed;
2. Production of 1,050 metric tons of paddy rice;
3. Maintenance of agricultural irrigation and drainage systems; 
4. Support for the operation of 14 small-scale rice Joint Service Centers for farmers' organizations;
5. Training of 240 farmers and organization of two field demonstration sessions; 
6. Technical assistance for 14 agricultural machinery service teams (contract plowing teams); 
7. Data development and application of an agricultural product traceability system.

Current Progress：

As of the end of October 2025, the following has been completed:

1. Production of 225.726 metric tons of rice seed for the first season crop, including 0.076 metric tons of breeder seed, 4.03 metric tons of foundation seed, and 221.62 metric tons of registered seed; technical assistance provided for the production of 606.718 metric tons of paddy rice.
2. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting,  and topdressing for 0.02 hectares of breeder seed fields (second season crop).
3. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and topdressing for 1 hectare of foundation seed fields (second season crop).
4. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and topdressing of 50 hectares for contract farming households producing registered seeds (second season crop).
5. Preparation of land, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and topdressing for 150 hectares of commercial rice production (second season crop).
6. Provision of technical guidance to 14 farmer organizations on land preparation, seedling cultivation, transplanting, and pest and disease control for rice production.
7. Four farmer training sessions and one field demonstration session, with a total of 155 farmers trained.
8. Contract plowing services for 200 hectares of in each of the two cropping seasons, four sessions of operational guidance for agricultural machinery maintenance centers, and two power tiller training sessions, with a total of 30 participants.
9. Two surveys on the maintenance and repair needs of the agricultural irrigation and drainage system, and clearing of 3,500 meters of irrigation canals.
10. Registration of farmland in the agricultural production traceability system for 200 hectares for the first season crop.
