Executing Agency:

Taiwan Technical Mission in the Kingdom of Bahrain / Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Bahrain

Current Progress:

As of December 2025, the following activities have been completed:

1. The successful facilitation of a field visit by a Taiwanese smart agriculture company to Bahrain in December resulted in the completion of a smart greenhouse upgrade assessment for partner farms, as well as the preliminary planning of applications for campus-based food and agriculture education. These efforts laid a solid foundation for subsequent expert dispatch and pilot cooperation.

2. In terms of crop cultivation, dragon fruit successfully flowered, fruited, and was harvested, with the production season occurring from June to October, which is comparable to Taiwan’s main production period and demonstrates its production potential in Bahrain. Passion fruit seedlings were transplanted this season by taking advantage of cooler climatic conditions, with 18 large potted plants successfully established and exhibiting stable growth, thereby forming a solid basis for demonstration and promotion. In addition, Taiwan’s innovative water-saving tree planting technology, known as the “Water-storing Tree Planter,” was introduced, with 20 on-campus field trial units completed in December. The plants have shown favorable growth performance, clearly demonstrating the technology’s potential for water conservation and improved survival rates. Continuous support has been provided to Bahraini partner institutions in promoting new crop varieties and site-specific cultivation models, contributing to the enhancement of local production capacity and the further strengthening of Taiwan–Bahrain agricultural cooperation.
