Project Name:Horticultural Crops Development Consultants Dispatch Project (Bahrain)

Project Description:
The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out horticultural technical assistance with Agriculture and Marine Resources Affairs, Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning under Agreement of Agricultural Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of China and the Government of the State of Bahrain. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include:
1. To investigate the annual needs of Bahrain and to formulate an annual working plan.
2. To provide regular reports.
3. To provide consultancy services according to the implementation priorities.
This project focuses on:
1. Date palm tissue culture and orchid cultivation.
2. Technical Service of Vegetable and fruit cultivation and incubation center.
Project Objectives:
Assist the Plant Wealth Directorate, Agriculture and Marine Resources Affairs in improving the quality of service to farmers.

Current Progress:
To the December, the following activities have been completed in 2024:
1. In line with the Bahrain government's agricultural development policy, through tissue culture technology, a date palm restoration plan is carried out, maintaining its special variety and mass production goals, and assisting the development of the date palm industry. At present, the Khunaizi date palm variety has been successfully rehabilitated. At present, 150 pots of date palm seedlings have been produced since the beginning of this year and the number will continue to increase. Diversity and preserve its important varieties.
2. In line with the Bahrain government's agricultural development policy, through tissue culture technology, we cultivate healthy Phalaenopsis seedlings to increase the diversity of agricultural development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This year, we have assisted the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to successfully produce a total of 385 Phalaenopsis seedlings, and the number continues to increase.
3. Through the project of Tissue Culture, it also assists the Bahrain government, the University of Bahrain and private personnel to cultivate many talents in the field of Tissue Culture. At present, it has trained 5 trainees.
4. The technical mission conducted four visits to local farmers, providing on-site management consultations and documenting their agricultural challenges.
