Project Name:Project for Strengthening Medical Emergency Response in Haiti
Project status:Completed projects
Cooperating Country:Caribbean
Project Description:Haiti is an island country in the Caribbean. Due to its geographical location, it has been affected by hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, heavy rains and periodic droughts for many years. However, Haiti currently has no natural disaster-related contingency policies and plans, and lacks early disaster response. The outbreak of COVID-19 has intensified the impact on the national defense response. Therefore, the Haitian Ministry of Health hopes that Taiwan will assist its national ambulance center to build the pre-hospital emergency rescue capabilities. In addition, we will also share Taiwan’s COVID-19 prevention and control capabilities and experience to enhance its ability to respond to disasters early and prevent epidemics.
This project will be based on Taiwan's rich and diverse experience and expertise in early disaster response and pre-hospital emergency rescue to help strengthen Haiti's emergency medical response capabilities. The content includes: 1. Teaching academic courses online; 2. Organizing and dispatching a training team to Haiti to build the capacity of pre-hospital emergency rescue; and 3. Sharing the COVID-19 pandemic prevention experience of Taiwan's medical institutions through multimedia.
