Project Name:Digital Health Innovation for COVID-19 response in India

Project Description:Since last December of 2019, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has begun to gradually spreading over the world, leading to a great number of people infected and killed by the disease. By the end of August of 2020, India had the largest number of confirmed cases in Asia, and had the third highest number of confirmed cases in the world. COVID-19 has placed a large burden on India’s healthcare system, and the healthcare workers are likewise lack access and capacity to be able to adequately support and manage COVID-19. In response to the aforementioned situation, this project used digital technology to assist the healthcare workers from the targeted 75 primary healthcare (PHC) facilities in Ranchi District of Jharkhand State of India to deliver quality services and comply with infection prevention and control standards to respond to COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, the project included the followings:
1. At least 65 HCWs from 75 PHC facilities had utilized the training modules provided in the HCW training and monitoring tool for COVID-19 response.
2. 80% of HCWs frequently accessed the chatbot application to receive information on COVID-19 FAQs.
3. At least 33,600 suspected COVID-19 cases from 75 PHC facilities had been registered and managed by a digitized screening and triage tool.

Project Objectives:Healthcare workers from the target PHC facilities deliver quality services and comply with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards to respond to COVID-19 pandemic.
Executing Agency:Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh)
Implementation Arrangement:During the project implementation, the TaiwanICDF will arrange TaiwanICDF’s IT experts to work with Tdh to review the applications’ user interface and functions developed under the project, and invite Taiwan’s pandemic experts to jointly review application content regarding COVID-19 prevention and control and provide relevant suggestions. The TaiwanICDF will also arrange a Taiwanese hospital to share its measures and experiences on combating COVID-19 with targeted healthcare facilities of this project, and to provide professional opinions on Infection and Prevention Control of the disease. Tdh will implement the proposed activities and liaise with local government units and stakeholders.
