Project Name:Integrated Action for Children’s Nutrition Project (Philippines)

Project Description:
The Eastern Visayas Region in the Philippines remains one of the poorest regions in the country and there is high prevalence of malnutrition in the region. Also, nutrition improvement has become one of the most important topics in public health. Therefore, the project aimed to improve the nutrition of children under five and to increase access of families (including children) to health and nutrition services in 35 barangays of Leyte and Samar Province.
Overall, the project:
1. Built capacity of community-based Breast Feeding Support Groups (BFSGs) to educate caregivers on proper feeding practices.
2. Educated the caregivers on child care, hygiene and sanitation practices.
3. Rehabilitated the underweight children.
4. Constructed one health facility and rehabilitated two health facilities.

Project Objectives:As a result of this project, children under five in the target areas have been properly fed and have improved nutritional status, and the families (including children) have access to health and nutrition services.
Executing Agency:World Vision
Implementation Arrangement:The TaiwanICDF dispatched two volunteers to assist in the project implementation; World Vision Development Foundation (Philippines) implemented the proposed activities and liaised with local government units and stakeholders; World Vision Taiwan assisted in the supervision of the project.
