國合會20週年會慶專書簡介

翻開臺灣援外的篇章，因為有來自國際社會提供的援助，讓我國得以蓄積國家發展所需動能，進而在經濟上創造舉世矚目的「臺灣奇蹟」，成功從受援國轉變為自立助人的援助國。多年來，這一批批滿懷理想、跟隨臺灣援外步伐遠渡重洋，協助計畫推動的專業人才，一直是我國援外工作的靈魂人物。

他們離鄉背井，在異鄉貢獻專業，足跡遍及非洲、亞太、中南美洲、加勒比海及中東國家，除了對夥伴國發展提供重要助力，也扮演敦睦邦誼的最佳尖兵。他們不畏環境艱難，在田野間辛勤耕耘，為災難重建打拼，化不可能為可能。他們憑藉著臺灣經驗，聚焦農業、公衛醫療、教育、資通訊及環境等領域，替夥伴國打樁建基，構築邁向永續發展的道路。

國合會在20週年之際，邀請多年來實際參與計畫的工作夥伴共同撰稿，以親身經歷的一手紀錄出版「心寬路廣 臺灣情」專書，以感謝不畏艱難在第一線執行任務的援外尖兵，更以此書向在援外道路上奉獻心血，用愛與生命播下種子，卻隕落異鄉的39位援外英雄致敬。

About “Thinking Big to Embrace the World”

The history of foreign assistance in Taiwan is one of transformation, from being dependent on foreign aid to becoming the “Taiwan Miracle” and assisting others in return. Central to our efforts are the vast number of enthusiastic experts who are the souls of Taiwan’s foreign assistance efforts and successfully helped deliver the projects over the two decades.

These experts traveled far from home to contribute their expertise in foreign lands. From Africa to the Pacific Islands, from Latin America and the Caribbean to the Middle East, their footprints can be found across the globe. They tilled desert fields, helped with post-disaster reconstruction, plowed through winding trails and swamps to make the impossible possible; drawing on Taiwan’s own experiences, they applied their know-how in agriculture, public health and medicine, education, information and communications technology, and environment to helping allied nations lay foundations for the future.

To mark our 20th anniversary, the TaiwanICDF has invited our staffs and partners with first-hand experience to come together in publishing the book, “Thinking Big to Embrace the World - the Touching Stories of Taiwan”, dedicating it to the vanguard of Taiwan foreign aid and to the 39 fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, sowing seeds to foster everlasting ties with the partner countries.
