Project Name:PSS Service Enhancement Project for Ukraine Refugee Children in Suceava, Galați and Constanța, Romania

Project status:Completed projects

Cooperating Country:Romania, Ukraine

Project Description:

The Russo-Ukrainian War starting in 2022 has forced over 7.89 million Ukrainians to leave the country and flee to neighboring countries. Among those countries, Romania accommodates over 100,000 refugees, and the majority are women and children. Considering the psychological injury caused by the war has affected the refugee children, and the refugee aid providers in Romania mostly don’t have sufficient background knowledge to respond to such needs, this project aims to improved PSS (Psycho-social support) capacity of Ukraine refugee children service providers in Suceava, Galați, and Constanța in Romania. Overall, the project includes the following:

  1. CNO/NGO staff are empowered to provide first aid PSS to Ukrainian children in Blue Dots, CFS, and in centers offering information, shelter, registration, aid, or other services to Ukrainian refugees.
  2. Ukrainian refugees from women-headed households secure livelihood opportunity as PSS workers for refugee children.
  3. Ukrainian children receive culturally appropriate first aid PSS as a complementary service and as part of childcare, after-school or child-friendly activities offered by multiple facilities and centers supporting Ukrainian refugees.
