CABEI Director for Guatemala Hon. Mr. Pedro Brolo Vila visits the TaiwanICDF

Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) Director for Guatemala Hon. Mr. Pedro Brolo Vila and his wife the Hon. Mrs. Silvia Marina Urruela Vizcaino visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on September 6, 2022.

The TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Mr. Alex L. J. Shyy warmly welcomed Mr. Brolo and Mrs. Urruela. They exchanged views on TaiwanICDF projects currently being implemented in cooperation with CABEI.

CABEI, an international multilateral development bank, was established in 1960 with its headquarters in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The main mission of the organization is to assist its member countries in the Central American region in the provision of financial solutions that contribute to the creation of employment, the improvement of wellbeing, and the quality of life of its citizens. Since Taiwan’s accession to CABEI as an extra-regional member in 1990, the TaiwanICDF has cooperated with the organization on a number of financial and technical assistance projects to spur development in the Central American private sector.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in cooperation with CABEI include the “Regional Lending Program for Coffee Rust in Central America”, the “Emergency Support and Preparedness Program for COVID-19 and the Economic Reactivation-Component 3 Credit to Finance Public Sector Operations”, the “Emergency Support and Preparedness Program for COVID-19 and the Economic Reactivation-Component 5 Financial Sector Support Facility for MSMEs” and the “TaiwanICDF Facility for Assisting the Economic Empowerment of Women in the Post-Pandemic of COVID-19.”
