An interview with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu on the “Taiwan Model” of International Development Cooperation in the TaiwanICDF Podcast

Joseph Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), was interviewed by the TaiwanICDF podcast. He pointed out that Taiwan’s foreign aid projects in partner countries through the TaiwanICDF have been very fruitful in recent years. Furthermore, the “Taiwan Model”, which directly benefits the local people, is highly valued and recognized by partner countries and the international community.

In July of last year, the TaiwanICDF launched the podcast “Voice of Aid from Taiwan”, which is hosted by the well-known host and author Hsieh Che-ching and the TaiwanICDF staff, to share with audiences the details of our international aid work. The podcast has continuously topped the non profit charts of Taiwan’s Apple Podcasts. The second season of the “Voice of Aid” podcast invites 26 guests from the TaiwanICDF, or who have been involved in Taiwan’s foreign aid work, to give audiences a deeper understanding of the international situation and recount their personal experiences, efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals and other soundbites of Taiwan’s foreign aid work.

In the interview, Minister Joseph Wu showcased the “Taiwan Model” for international cooperation and development. When asked by the host Hsieh Che-ching his opinions on the diplomacy work, he raised the TaiwanICDF experience of turning desert into fertile land in the Bagré area of Burkina Faso as an example, emphasizing that every journey must leave a trace, and that he firmly believes that the results of our foreign aid would eventually have a positive impact on the international community. Minister Joseph Wu also exclaimed “we should go global in the future; the international world is our world” to encourage young students to actively participate in foreign aid projects and strive to raise Taiwan’s visibility in the international field.

The episode will be come online on June 23. Are you wondering what the new word, “kui-de-ble”, invented by Minister Wu in the show, means?
