Project Name: Green Energy Special Fund (GESF)-Subproject 5 : Bulgaria Sofia Electric Buses Acquisition Project
Project Description: The project is to support Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, in implementing its strategy of increasing green urban mobility through the purchase of up to 30 electric low floor buses and 12 charging stations with fast charging technology.

Project Objectives: 1. Replace fossil-fueled bus fleet to reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector.
2. Improve the reliability, energy efficiency and quality of public transport services.
3. Reduce the pollution caused by traffic congestion.
Executing Agency: Sofia Electric Transport Company
Implementation Arrangement: The TaiwanICDF, through its contribution to the GESF, co-finances the project with the EBRD by providing a loan to Sofia Electric Transport Company, which is 100 per cent owned by the City.
