Project Name: Raising Competency of Farmers’ Horticultural Produces Project in Thailand
Project Description: The current income of farmers in the northern part of Thailand is deeply affected by the unstable supply of seedlings and the lack of competitiveness of the products, resulting in a technical gap in the quality, output and types of the current local products.The “Raising Competency of Farmers’ Horticultural Produces Project in Thailand” aims at vegetable and flower crops and assists farmers in strengthening their innovative R&D and production management capabilities to enhance the competitiveness of products.

Project Objectives: 1. Strengthen innovation and research and development capabilities
(1) Establish vegetable selection and seed production system
(2) Establish Chrysanthemum flower breeding, healthy seedling breeding and cultivation management system
(3) Research and development and application promotion of agricultural biological agents
2. Enhance industrial technology
(1) Conduct technical trainings for RPF staff.
(2) Dispatch Taiwanese experts to Thailand for technical exchange.

Current Progress: To the end of March 2021, the following activities have been completed:
1. Completed cherry tomato, lettuce, sweet corn and melons, which introduced from Taiwan, adaptation trials in cool seasons.
2. Finished the first seed harvest of 13 chrysanthemum varieties planted for conventional cross-breeding experiment.
3.Produced 75 kilograms of Trichoderma Tricho-004 (the product obtained from the preliminary cooperative project research) and distributing to two research farms and seven agricultural development centers as a starter to be multiplied to 1146 kilograms of Trichoderma Tricho-004 fresh cultures and to distribute to 559 farmers.
4. Conducted shelf life and solubility test of 6 microbial isolates for biofertilizer.
