Project Name: Assisting the Recovery of Nepal Earthquake Affected Health Posts Project (Nepal)
Project Description: On April 25, 2015, Nepal was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which caused immense destruction of property, injury, and loss of life. Many health facilities were damaged or destroyed as a result of the earthquake, affecting the functionality and capacity of the health system to respond to the impacts of the disaster. The four districts Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Dhading and Dolakha which will be targeted by this project, have 258 health facilities in total, 231 of them have been either completely damaged or partially damaged. The aim of the project is to restore 5 health posts so that they can provide the quality health services for the population in these earthquake-affected communities.
1. Repair/Reconstruction of earthquake-resistant health posts with adequate water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
2. Enhanced awareness and knowledge of health workers and communities on sanitation, disease and disaster risk management
3. Improve the capacity of health workers to deliver disease outbreak management, disaster preparedness and WASH health services

Project Objectives: To contribute to the restoration and improvement of quality health services for the earthquake affected population in target areas
Executing Agency: World Vision International Nepal(WVIN)
Implementation Arrangement: The TaiwanICDF provides a US$500,000 grant, as well as dispatches a volunteer to assist in the implementation of the project; WVIN implements the proposed activities and liaises with local NGOs and government offices. World Vision Taiwan provides technical and management oversight.
Current Progress: To the end of September 2016, the following activities have been implemented:
1.Completion of the building main structure in all four health posts, the interior work will be completed by December. The construction of one outreach clinic is near the completion stage;
2.Completion of 16 community awareness campaigns;
3.Completion of two rounds of District level media campaigns: via local FM Radio to deliver health and nutrition related messages in all four districts;
4.Completion of 18 trainings on health, nutrition and hygiene related topics for Female Community Health Volunteers(FCHVs), health workers and other local groups;
5.Completion of six disaster and risk management trainings for health facility in-charge, health post staff, operations and management committee and FCHVs
