Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti Visits the TaiwanICDF

S.E.M. Bocchit Edmond, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Haiti, accompanied by Special Advisor to the president, M. Charles Jean-Jacques, Director of Cabinet of Foreign Minister, M. Jean Jude Piquant, Governor of the Bank of Haiti, M. Jean Baden Dubois and Director General of Electricity of Haiti, M. Hervé Pierre-Louis, visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on December 19, 2018.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Timothy T.Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed S.E.M. Edmond and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Haiti.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Rice Seed Production Capacity Enhancement Project in Haiti and the Project to Increase Rice Production in Les Cayes, Haiti. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 150 participants from Haiti have received training from the TaiwanICDF’ professional workshops, and a total of 62 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan. To promote Chinese-language education and cultural exchanges, the TaiwanICDF has dispatched one professional Mandarin teacher to Haiti since 2015.
