Echoing the SDGs – the TaiwanICDF Holds Workshop on Women’s Entrepreneurship

The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) held a Workshop on Women’s Micro Enterprises Start-up from October 13 to 26, 2016 to assist partner and friendly countries in nurturing women entrepreneurs. A total of 28 participants from 23 nations took part in the workshop.

To echo the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to give women equal rights to economic resources and achieve gender equality, the TaiwanICDF particularly organized this workshop and invited experts in women’s micro-enterprises start-up to address participants on women’s entrepreneurship, resources and counseling, and financial aid. The workshop also shared how Taiwan is promoting workplace gender equality through the Gender Equality in Employment Act and Labor Standards Law. Furthermore, the seminar introduced the services provided by the Flying Geese Program, including an enterprise and capital matching program, financial counseling, and micro-enterprise start-up loans.

The workshop incorporated theoretical and practical application classes such as indoor lectures and visits to Homemaker’s Union Consumer’s Co-op, Anewei Shop, TC Yachts, Innovation Incubation Center, National Chenchi University and CTBC Charity Foundation. Upon returning to their home countries, participants will be able to use the knowledge they acquired to help raise awareness and further develop women’s entrepreneurship.
