Project Name: Strengthening Fruit and Vegetable Production Project in Nicaragua
Project Description: In general, the production of vegetables, is characterized by its high capacity to generate jobs and family labor and contracted, averaging between 120 and 130 man-days per mz, this without taking into account the indirect jobs it generates throughout of the productive chain when it includes intermediaries and transporters, among others.The project will create adequate infrastructure conditions for the production and propagation of healthy seedlings, in addition to the production of bio-inputs with the aim of contributing to the food security of small and medium-sized players, providing new technologies and increasing agricultural productivity. In this sense, the use of bio-inputs is promising in terms of improving the health of the crops, the fertility of the soil and reducing costs associated with the application of agrochemicals for the production of vegetables, fruit trees that can generate higher incomes. Main: (1) Increase by 5% the area of ​​the 7 established departments of vegetables using improved plants (2) Strengthening of capacities in agro-ecological management techniques of vegetable and fruit plants and replication of training to 1,200 protagonists.

Implementation End Date: 2020/6/30
Project Objectives: Increase by 5% the area of the 7 established departments of vegetables using improved plants, increases 10% of production of the 120 protagonists.

Current Progress: To the end of March 2019, the following activities have been completed:
1.Production of 33,280 vegetable seedlings.
2.Organize one course of guava field cultivation and management.
