Technical Cooperation

Project Name: Mariculture Project in Nicaragua
Project Description: By improving the function of the Technological Development Center and the research capabilities of aquaculture technology, the competitiveness of mariculture development in Nicaragua will be strengthened and technical assistance will be provided to existing producers to improve production technology and their lives . The work of this project is: 1. To establish and promote the technology to cultivate white bass fish. 2. Establish and promote the technology to culture fish snapper lunarejo.
Implementation Start Date: 2018/10/1
Implementation End Date: 2020/6/30
Project Objectives: Improve marine fish culture technologies (white bass and red snapper) to increase the production of marine fish from 4,000 to 18,000 kilograms.
Executing Agency: Instituto Nicaragüense de la Pesca y la Acuicultura (INPESCA)
Current Progress:

To the end of September 2019, the following activities have been completed:

  1. Completed a training course for snapper breeding.
  2. Completed 111 consultations on the technique of snapper breeding.
  3. Participated in one aquaculture seminar and two farmer seminars.
  4. Assisted fisher cooperatives to produce 17,249 pounds sea fish (bream).
  5. Established the mariculture center and completed opening ceremony.
