Project Name: Honduras Pig Breeding and Reproduction Project
Project Description: With the objective of reducing the proportion of pork imports and promoting domestic production of quality meat in Honduras, and refer to the successful experience of the Swine Breeding Project implemented by Taiwan Technical Mission. The project would aim to solve the problem of the deteriorating quality of pig breeding stock available in the Porcine Reproduction Center of Comayagua (CRPC). Honduras hopes that, through the new project, it will be able to help the CRPC improve the reproductive performance of the breeding stock and administrative efficiency. This will stabilize the supply of high-quality breeding stock to the pig farmers in order to establish the foundations to expand the production of pork and to develop the pork industry in Honduras. The content of this project focuses on the following: (1) Establish pig breeding stock with good genetics and purebred quality; (2) Optimize the pig management model and its environmental conditions; and (3) Strengthen the capacity to manage and maintain the pig breeding stock.
