TaiwanICDF expands scope of vocational training project –cooperating with allied countries to cultivate skilled workforce

Human resources are a fundamental pillar of a country’s socio-economic development. As such, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) cooperates with Taiwan’s allied countries to cultivate a professional workforce that meets the demands of the market. The TaiwanICDF has expanded the scope of vocational training projects this year with the 2018 Vocational Training Project in the Pacific and 2018 Vocational Training Project for the Youth in the Latin America, implemented in partnership with two branches of Workforce Development Agency – Yunlin-Chaiyi-Tainan Regional Branch and Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch – of Ministry of Labor of ROC (Taiwan), respectively.

For the 2018 Vocational Training Project in the Pacific, two training courses related to baking and hospitality management, running from July 4 to August 31, are conducted with a total of 28 participants from Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu. As for the 2018 Vocational Training Project for the Youth in the Latin America, three courses related to creative woodwork, mobile phone repair and app design and programming, and computer-aided mechanical manufacturing are offered, which are conducted from July 24 to October 5. Forty trainees from our allied countries in the Latin America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Paraguay, are participating in the project. These vocational training projects are expected to boost trainees’ employment and entrepreneurship prospects.
