Sharing Taiwan’s achievements in trade facilitation and strengthening links to the world

Taiwan has implemented automated customs clearance system for more than 20 years starting from 1992, including in marine/air cargo and personnel clearance operations. To share the experience and achievements of Taiwan in trade facilitation, which can serve as reference to other countires, the TaiwanICDF held a two-week Workshop on Customs Administration and Trade Facilitation from April 13 to 26. A total of 19 government customs and trade officers from 15 countries participated in this workshop. Participants learned about the latest import/export and logistics technology through visits to Kaohsiung Software Park, Smart Logistic Center in National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, and Taoyuan free trade zone.

Additionally, to align with the government’s policy of steadfast diplomacy and mutual assistance for mutual benefits, a business exchange forum was held to assist Taiwan’s logistics and forwarding industry in developing business opportunities. During the forum, participants shared their country’s preferential treatment measures for foreign investors, customs operations, free trade zones, bonded warehouse and cross-border e-commerce. This information sharing session was streamed online on April 16 and 17 through the TaiwanICDF Facebook page.
