Project Name: Assisting the recovery of Nepal earthquake affected health posts project (Nepal)
Project Description: On April 25, 2015, Nepal was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which caused immense destruction of property, injury, and loss of life. Many health facilities were damaged or destroyed as a result of the earthquake, affecting the functionality and capacity of the health system to respond to the impacts of the disaster. The two districts Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha, which will be targeted by this project, have 149 health facilities in total, 131 of them have been either completely damaged or partially damaged. The aim of the project is to contribute to the restoration and improvement of quality health services.
Overall, this project will:
1. Repair/Reconstruction of earthquake-resistant health posts with adequate water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
2. Enhanced awareness and knowledge of health workers and communities on sanitation, disease and disaster risk management
3. Improve the capacity of health workers to deliver disease outbreak management, disaster preparedness and WASH health services

Implementation End Date: 2017/3/8
Source of Funding: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China
Project Objectives: To contribute to the restoration and improvement of quality health services for the earthquake affected population in target areas
Executing Agency: World Vision International Nepal(WVIN)
Implementation Arrangement: The TaiwanICDF will provide a US$500,000, as well as dispatch a volunteer to assist in the implementation of the project; WVIN will implement the proposed activities and liaise with local NGOs and government offices. World Vision Taiwan will provide technical and management oversight.
Current Progress: To the end of December 2015, the following activities have been implemented:
1.Memorandum of Understanding has been signed.
