Technical and Vocational Education and Training Enhancement Project to be Implemented Soon in Swaziland

To help the Kingdom of Swaziland combat its low employment rate and limited economic growth, the TaiwanICDF and the Swaziland Government have been working together to launch the “Swaziland Technical and Vocational Education Training Enhancement Project.” This project’s technical cooperation agreement was signed jointly on October 15th, 2015, by the Honorable Thomas Chen, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Kingdom of Swaziland and the Honorable Mgwagwa Gamedze, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Swaziland.

Thanks to this cooperative agreement, Taiwan and Swaziland can now implement the “Swaziland Technical and Vocational Education and Training Enhancement Project” together. The goal of the project is to assist Swaziland in improving its systems for technical and vocational education and training (TVET), which will focus on medium to advanced level ICT training, as well as advanced training in electrical engineering. Furthermore, a series of short-term intensive vocational training courses have also been developed with the goal of developing qualified high-voltage and low-voltage technicians and automobile mechanics. The new TVET systems will not only conform to the country’s economic development plan, but will also improve technical skills and assist the country in reaching its long-term development goals.
