TaiwanICDF to Assist South Pacific Partners in Cultivating Professional and Technical Capacity

TaiwanICDF to Assist South Pacific Partners in Cultivating Professional and Technical Capacity

To assist its partner countries in the South Pacific in cultivating professional and technical capacity among young people, as well as improve young people’s job opportunities and career development, the TaiwanICDF has commissioned the Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch of the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency to carry out its 2015 Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific from September 4 to December 22. Some 30 participants from Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu have come to Taiwan as part of the project.

Over almost four months, the training project will focus on the technical skills needed as part of daily life in the Pacific, providing technical courses in three disciplines: electrical and electronic engineering, automotive mechanics, and woodwork. The TaiwanICDF hopes that through this project, assistance provided to participants will lead them to become seeds for the transmission of vocational training skills upon returning home, and thereby expand cooperative relations between Taiwan and its Pacific partner countries.
