TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Technical Assistance Project Strengthening Teacher Training in Burkina Faso

TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Technical Assistance Project Strengthening Teacher Training in Burkina Faso

To continue to strengthen the professional capacity of vocational training teachers as part of the TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Technical Assistance Project in Burkina Faso, three Taiwanese vocational training specialists have been sent to hold skills development classes for such teachers at Koudougou University’s Department of Industrial Education from July 13 to August 28. An estimated 100 teachers will receive training over the period, taking classes in subjects including motors, electronics, power machinery, agricultural machinery, precision machinery (including mechanical structures and mechanical manufacturing), carpentry, construction, and agricultural product processing.

These skills development classes are an important part of the in-service training pipeline for vocational training teachers in Burkina Faso. In addition to the TaiwanICDF stationing specialists to provide classes, every year a number of senior vocational training tutors, technical managers with industry experience or college tutors are also dispatched to hold classes according to Burkina Faso’s vocational training needs.

This year represents the second time that the TaiwanICDF has offered teacher training through its project. Last year, the organization sent six Taiwanese vocational training specialists to Burkina Faso, providing training to 143 local vocational training teachers in subjects including agricultural machinery, building surveying and technical drawing, furniture making and design, refrigeration and air conditioning, metal fabrication, and public health-related piping engineering alongside the TaiwanICDF’s resident specialists.
