||Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project (The Gambia)
||The project comprises the following six components:
- Infrastructure (buildings, equipment and furniture);
- Curriculum development;
- Staff training;
- Consultancy services;
- Acclimatization to the Sifoe (now Ndemban) Skills Training Center and the value of the TVET system;
- Project administration.
||Construct a new skills training center in Ndemban, The Gambia. The center is expected to substitute for the Banjul Skills Training Center, a GTTI Annex, and upgrade the quality and quantity of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) available through public training institutes.
||Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MOHERST)
||There are two tranches for the project. Tranche A is to construct a new TVET center located in Ndemban, which is the main goal of the project. Tranche B is to enhance the TVET system and build capacity. Tranche A, which will be implemented after the first disbursement of the Loan, will be used to procure consultant services; at this point, MOFA-funded staff training will also be processed. Meanwhile, the EA will perform operations relating to the construction of buildings, curriculum development and the procurement of equipment, assisted by project consultant(s). To implement Tranche B, the EA will submit sub-project proposals to the TaiwanICDF for approval. Funds will be disbursed according to the progress of each sub-project.
||The project’s impact will be mainly economical. There will be approximately 2,500 workers benefiting from one month of in-service training each year for five years, plus another 600 pre-service TVET student per year for four years.
