Project Name: Healthcare Personnel Training Program
Project Description: Providing 2 to 3 month on job training to medical personnel from partner countries.

Source of Funding: TaiwanICDF and training institutions (both responsible for lecturer and accommodation expenses during the training period; however, training institutions’ expenses are not included in the project “approval amount.”)
Project Objectives: In order to develop professional medical human resources and improve the quality of medical services for partner countries, the TaiwanICDF conducts the “Healthcare Personnel Training Program” to share Taiwan’s abundant clinical knowledge, experience and cutting-edge medical practices.
Implementation Arrangement: Trainees will be distributed to the allied hospitals and institutions to get clinical or on-site training, exchange professional skills and experience culture differences.
Current Progress: To the end of August 2014, the following activities have been completed:

The implementation of this training project has involved coordination and planning with partner countries and affiliated hospitals. In 2014 to date, 20 trainees completed the training program as follows:
1. Eight trainees from Belize, Kiribati, Malawi and the Marshall Islands received training from March to May.
2. Three trainees from Fiji received training from May to June.
3. Six trainees from Tuvalu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Nauru received training from May to July.
4. Three trainees from the Solomon Islands and Paraguay received training in June.

One trainee from Paraguay is receiving training from August to September, and 14 trainees from Belize, Burkina Faso, Swaziland and São Tomé and Príncipe will receive training from September to November.

Project Performance: Since year 2012 to date, 87 trainees from 21 countries participanted the program and trained by 22 allied hospitals and institutions, Trainees strengthened their professional skills, learnt about the comparative advantages of the Taiwanese medical system, and picked up best practices through hands-on participation in its intensive, day-to-day operations.
During June 1 to 12, 2014, TaiwanICDF also conducted post-training evaluation among Fiji trainees who attended the TaiwanICDF’s Healthcare Personnel Training Program from 2006 to 2013.
