This project will assist the government of PNG to develop land, propagate vegetables and improve yields of grain, including via rice propagation and the introduction of improve rice-planting technologies.
Overall, this project will:
  1. Establish a rice seed propagation center and cultivate three cultivars: TCS10 over 10 hectares, TN67 over 0.2 hectares and TY3 over 0.2 hectares.
  2. Establish four extension seed farms — two each in two provinces.
  3. Organize training courses and farm tours.
  4. Provide assistance at Erap farm to plant and cultivate pumpkin, watermelon and maize; provide training to persons from correctional facilities to plant maize over 10 hectares at Erap farm.
